Reconfiguring African Studies, reconfiguring economics: centring intersectionality and social stratification

چکیده
African and diaspora scholars have made key contributions to contemporary understandings of inequality, intersectionality, institutions ‘development'. A recent major contribution this debate is offered by Franklin Obeng-Odoom’s Property, Institutions Social Stratification in Africa (Cambridge University Press, 2020). Drawing on a wide range literatures, but especially from traditions Black radical economic thought that span the United States, Caribbean Africa, book calls for intersectional perspectives be brought bear classical institutionalist stratification economics rethink ‘development economics’ as we know it. Obeng-Odoom utilizes these make sense persistent increasing intra- inter-group inequalities between world, showing how classed, raced gendered identities shape diverse political experiences, including access property or employment opportunities. At same time, wo*men economists Colour notable themes addressed Obeng-Odoom's - an archive deserves deep attention. Gathering collective feminist beyond (Abena D. Oduro, Tanita J. Reconfiguring Area Studies for the Global Age
This was not an outlandish thought in 1995. The following year, Martin Albrow published The Global Age – in the early 1990s, the dialectic of beginning and end was widely felt. Of course, it was a stretch to assume that historical periodization will eventually introduce the anticipated Global Ages. However, a few things had become clear. The Cold War had already turned into a distinct sub-era k...
متن کاملReconfiguring Distributed Reo Connectors
The coordination language Reo defines circuit-like connectors to steer the collaboration of independent components. In this paper, we present a framework for the modeling of distributed, self-reconfigurable connectors based on algebraic graph transformations. Reconfiguring a connector that is composed with others, may involve a change of shared interfaces and may therefore require a reconfigura...
متن کاملHeterogeneous Self-Reconfiguring Robotics
Self-reconfiguring robots are modular systems that can change shape, or reconfigure, to match structure to task. They comprise many small, discrete, often identical modules that connect together and that are minimally actuated. Global shape transformation is achieved by composing local motions. Systems with a single module type, known as homogeneous systems, gain fault tolerance, robustness and...
متن کاملReconfiguring planar dihedral chains
We consider the dihedral model of motion for chains with fixed edge lengths, in which the angle between every pair of successive edges remains fixed. A chain is flat-state connected if every planar configuration can be transformed to any other via a series of dihedral motions which maintain simplicity. Here we prove that three classes of chains are flat-state connected. The first class is that ...
متن کاملOn Reconfiguring Radial Trees
A linkage is a collection of line segments, called bars, possibly joined at their ends, called joints. We consider flattening a tree-like linkage, that is, a continuous motion of their bars from an initial configuration to a final configuration looking like a“straight line segment,” preserving the length of each bar and not crossing any two bars. In this paper, we introduce a new class of linka...
